OBERLIN AUTHORS BOOK CLUB

Please join us once again for the Oberlin Authors Book Club!
This October we are featuring a book by Gwendolen Gross, class of '89 called The Other Mother.

We are lucky to have Gwendolen joining us.  Her book, The Other Mother, has had much acclaim.

Here's a website link: www.the-other-mother.com
“an electrifyingly complex and explosively gripping portrait of contemporary, have-it-all motherhood.”— Booklist

“The book was amazing. ... As the story continues we truly get to know both Moms. OMG – I loved them both. I hated them both. I wanted to hug them both. I wanted to shake them both. I wanted to crawl into the pages and bang THEIR heads together. There was so much of ME in both of them.”
My Life As It Is book review of The Other Mother

Featured in the USA Today, the New York Daily News, the Toronto Star, Redbook, OK! Magazine, and on National Public Radio, the selection of four national book clubs including the Book of the Month club, with a 5-star review from Amazon.com. Read more mom blog book reviews here

The Other Mother is a best Jersey book of 2007 by Jersey Writers, a best book of the year by the RoleMommy blog, a book of the week on Amazon, and is on the Amazon bestsellers list (Women’s Friendship).

The time and place for the book club meeting will be announced shortly.
Gwendolen says Amazon is the easiest and the least expensive place to buy the book.

If you have any questions about the book club, or would like to be put on our separate book club mailing list, please contact me directly at KJK11B@aol.com

Many thanks,
Katherine J. Kornblau

OFFER AN OBERLIN STUDENT A WINTER TERM INTERNSHIP
Sponsored by the Office of Career Services

Please consider offering a Winter Term internship to a current Oberlin student. A Winter Term internship (the month of January) presents an opportunity for you to share information about your profession, provide career mentoring, and offer exposure to an occupational field of interest.  In return you get an eager assistant to help out with substantive projects for a month!

New York City is Oberlin’s most popular destination for Winter Term interns and the students’ experiences reflect their diverse professional and personal interests.  Last year over 50 students excelled in fields such as art, music, theater, law, finance, education, social service, public policy, and publishing. We hope you will consider offering an internship of your own!

Nathan Elton, Associate Director in the Office of Career Services, will support you through the entire internship process and is available to answer any questions that you may have about drafting an internship description, developing intern roles and responsibilities, and selecting an intern.  He can be reached at: Nathan.elton@oberlin.edu or 440-775-8847. Please contact him at your earliest convenience, or, if you are ready to submit a Winter Term internship visit:http://www.oberlin.edu/career/WT/wtinternshipform.html

One final note, the Office of Career Services is always interested in sharing your summer internship and post-graduation opportunities with students.  If you have a position that you would like to post please visit: http://www.oberlin.edu/career/Employers/post_position.html

Thank you!
